An entrance door, a piece of furniture, a fireplace, a detail, a creak ignored for years, today have become a source of inspiration to tell my family’s story.
A detail from the past that turns into a project for the future.
It was an autumn afternoon, cold and rainy. I had to go to Furci, a small town on the Abruzzo hills, to get some documents from the historic family house, which remains closed almost all year round.
Arrived in front of the entrance door, I entered quickly because the rain and the wind were strong, and with my shoes all wet I crossed the entrance hall. I took the documents and while going back, my gaze fell upon that wet floor. It was annoying to see it so wet and dirty. The more I looked at it, the more its beauty, artisanality and history captivated me. In an instant so many smells, words, emotions came back to my mind… moments of a real, well-lived life.
The very next morning I called my friend Erika, daughter of Maestro Liberati, a famous ceramic artist that founded a historic artistic ceramics’ manufacturer in the area. We have always shared a passion for art, family
traditions and the uniqueness of artisanal works
